Autorenporträt
ERNST JÜNGER (1895-1998), a highly decorated German soldier, author, and entomologist became famous after his first book The Storm of Steel (1929). He wrote many other books since, but remained a complex figure in Germany: a conservative philosopher to some and a radical nationalist glorifying war to others. In the second part of his life, he became an honored establishment figure, receiving honorary doctorates and international awards, including the prestigious Robert Schuman Prize for European unity in 1993.
