In this work, Parfait Bassalé, M.A. lays down the foundation for the Story and Song Centered Pedagogy (SSCP) as a viable approach to increasing empathy in classrooms. He makes the case that music and storytelling by virtue of being effective communication tools and mood thermostats, can influence behavior. As such, they are together, a very potent tool in the educator's toolbox. This is an invaluable work in the field of Peace Education as it not only repositions empathy as a cornerstone for transformational peace building work, but it also offers a road map for its instruction.
