John Buchanan graduated from the University of Colorado School of Journalism in 1940. He worked at the Boulder Daily Camera newspaper and then spent fifteen years at The Denver Post as city hall reporter and writing a weekly city hall column. In 1965 he joined the staff of Empire, the paper's Sunday magazine, where he wrote a weekly column full of folksy recollections and humor, with an occasional foray into politics. He became the assistant editor for Empire and retired in 1985. John died at the age of 84 in 2003.
