Born in the mountains of Kentucky, Homer Williams enjoyed the first nine years of his life in simple, but satisfying, surroundings on a farm. He experienced many adventures during these early years and shares them with vivid recall, including the story of the first toy he ever received and his education at a one-room schoolhouse. At the age of nine, he and his family moved to West Virginia and encountered a wealth of modern conveniences. One fought for the North; the other fought for the South. Williams was born the tenth of eleven children.
