R. Clement Spanato spent six years living with serial killers and multiple life-sentence murderers, a good portion of which was spent in a maximum-security prison. Spanato had candid conversations with these killers. He saw death in their eyes and looked deeply into their psyches while gaining a unique insight into their thought patterns.
