Jim Harrison, Jahrgang 1937, ist einer der größten amerikanischen Erzähler der Gegenwart. Er begann seine Karriere als Lyriker; nachdem er bei der Vogeljagd eine Klippe hinabstürzte, vertrieb er sich im Krankenhaus die Zeit mit dem Schreiben seines ersten Romans. Es folgten zahlreiche weitere Werke, darunter seine Novelle Legenden der Leidenschaft, die mit Brad Pitt und Anthony Hopkins verfilmt wurde, sowie der Roman Dalva, der heute zu den modernen Klassikern der amerikanischen Literatur zählt. Seine Bücher sind in 22 Sprachen übersetzt. Jim Harrison lebt in Arizona und Montana.
