Autorenporträt
About the Author:The only daughter of two Greek immigrants, Bess was born and raised in the east end of Toronto, where her culture had a vibrant presence. Stories of ancient heroes and a glorious history helped develop an interest in classical literature, the arts, and the human condition. Marrying too young to study immediately after high school, Bess encouraged her four children to understand the value of a deep-rooted culture, family and community, while still exploring a world of constant change, self-awareness and independence. She has lived in the Niagara Region for the past forty years, where, like many of us, she continues to strive for that magical balance of honouring a past and helping to shape the future. Her first book, The Sun Sets in Smyrna 1922, is a testament to the struggles of those before us... ALL of those before us. Bess's objective is to acknowledge their journeys and their outcomes, and what it means for generations to come. The attachments we have to our homes was what drove Bess to her other career in real estate. Our homes are extensions of our style, our security, our sanctuaries and our dreams. They are spaces where our souls find peace and it is in those moments of peace that Bess most enjoys writing.
