Enthralled with all the snow that fell, they can't wait to venture outdoors and enjoy the fun just waiting for them. When they have removed their winter clothing and boots, she shows them the sundogs through an unusual avenue - their living room window. Learning the truth behind their neighbor's words, elder brother, Ward, realizes how old Mr. Crumble had fooled them. Ward wants to get back at him, but his mother dissuades him by telling Ward she'll bake Mr. Crumble a pie. Ward's shocked until he realizes the wisdom of his mother's words. The boys focus their hearts to the joy of the spring, looking forward to the pleasures awaiting in the days ahead.
