His intimate knowledge of these fields comes from an illustrious career as a Chief Technology Officer in healthcare, military simulation, and defense technology. For a decade, he led groundbreaking research in robotic surgery at AdventHealth's Nicholson Center, while also serving on the faculties of Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons and the University of Central Florida's College of Medicine. He has been a lecturer at Georgia Tech, Texas Tech, Florida Tech, and several other prestigious institutions. His expertise spans continents, having directed international projects across Europe, Asia, and North America. As CTO for the U.S. Army's Simulation and Training Command, he was a visionary for military training systems, earning the Commander's Medal for Civilian Service. His innovations in healthcare and simulation technology have garnered numerous prestigious awards, including the ACM Distinguished Contribution Award, the Des Cummings Healthcare Innovation Award, and the SCS Outstanding Contribution Award in Simulation.When not crafting pulse-pounding medical thrillers, Smith writes travel adventures inspired by his global running expeditions.
