Surgical Oncology, in the context of General Surgery, can account for some of the more difficult questions on the ABSITE and the American Board of Surgery Qualifying exam. This topic is often difficult to study for because of the lack of a singular resource to draw from. The material is delivered in confusing algorithms, in the middle or end of dense textbook chapters, or else merely glossed over in review books. This is unfortunate because as general surgery residents we need to have surgical oncologic knowledge at our fingertips. This is an organized and concise review of Surgical Oncology, as it pertains to General Surgery. This review provides applicable screening guidelines/pertinent diagnostic tests/need-to-know staging, a comprehensive list of tumor markers and genetic mutations, and indications for surgery/neoadjuvant & adjuvant therapy/palliative therapy. Revised and up to date content that will allow you to spend more time studying and save you from searching for the latest guidelines.

Autorenporträt
Aryan Meknat, M.D. completed his General Surgery residency at Lehigh Valley Health Network and is continuing his training in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Allegheny Health Network. During his final year of residency, he served as the education chief - which is when he realized there were a lack of organized and concise resources on the topic of surgical oncology, as it pertains to general surgery. He set out to compiling his notes from his five years of residency, that had served him well for the ABSITE and American Board of Surgery Qualifying Exam and created this review. His goal would be to have this book utilized as a surgical oncology resource to supplement other review books out there, that are deficient of this high yield material.
