Marine fish resources move from one place to another, under the influence of water currents without passport or visa, while human beings continue to exploit this gift of the nature using various fishing gears among which trawlers are reputed very destructive. This book is based on personal observations and participation to the fisheries management on various positions at the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries from 1991 to 2009. During this professional life, I could experience the decline of fish resources specially during stocks assessments surveys on the Research vessel Dr Fridtjoff Nansen .Having acquired this experience and knowledge not only in Africa, in Europe, Asia, my only wish was to share with not only professionals and students, but also decision makers. I may confess that many decison makers due to poor knowledge of what is happening at sea in terms of discards, habitats and sea bed destruction after each haul would hardely take the necessary decision against fish trawling. By reading this book, I hope readers will understand the need of protecting these resources both for these and future generations.
