Ferguson was accompanied by two mistresses, Virginia Sal and Virginia Paul, who traveled with him and fought beside him. The Battle of Kings Mountain was a critical battle that sealed the fate of the British Army in the south, and paved the way for the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown in October, 1781.
