Philippe IBAKA SANGU, es licenciado en Historia por la Universidad de Lubumbashi (RDC), Master en la Universidad de Kinshasa en el Departamento de Ciencias Históricas, Facultad de Artes y Ciencias Humanas. Actualmente es doctor en la Facultad de Artes y Ciencias Sociales de la Universidad de Stellenbosch (Sudáfrica) y autor de varias publicaciones científicas.
