Kaempie, one of the four wizards who tries to prevent the younger boy Meneka from rowing away from safety but who, instead is pulled aboard and drifts to the northern, unfriendly shores of the mainland. Its in this story we learn of the protective powers of the Songs of the North Wind. We also discover the magical dagger that once belonged to the queen of Taikus as a group of miscreants use it's power to open a portal. Meneka. Not all refugees from the island of Taikus have good intentions, and it's Meneka that makes things problematic for his companions, and for the rest of the world as he wields a power fit for a dragon. Reuben, who never really wanted to leave the island in the first place. He braves a return and creates a legacy that continues in Lost on Taikus (also included in this project.)
