Betul Balkan is currently pursuing a PhD degree in Sociology & Anthropology at Northeastern University. Balkan¿s research interests include state-society relations, nationalism, secularism, and Islam. Her research in this monograph includes the opinions of diaspora Turks in Houston, Texas on the tension between Islam and secularism in Turkey.
