Autorenporträt
Barbara Vaka has been writing stories since the age of 10. Her first short story was science fiction and can be found in the back of this book. Tharsis Zone is her fifth published novel and a departure from her previous works. Nowhere is her passion for accuracy and adventure more evident than in this tale of discovery of a distant world inhabited by a human-like civilization The inspiration to write the novel came after meeting Dr. Robert Zubrin in Colorado. Zubrin was the architect of Mars Direct, a plan to send men to the red planet using the technology already available in the early 2000s. This book is dedicated to him. Perhaps if NASA had listened to Zubrin back then this story would have been science fact not fiction, Barbara said. Barbara lives with her husband of 50 years in Tampa, Fl along with their two cats. The couple have three children and four grandchildren. Her next book, Embroidered on the Heart is due out early 2019. It's time to commit to finding the answer, to search for life beyond Earth. Mankind has a deep need to explore, to learn, to know. We also happen to be sociable creatures. It is important for us to know if we are alone in the dark. Stephen Hawking
