Autorenporträt
Marvin J. Byrd was born in Oklahoma City and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Marvin is a 1974 graduate of Oral Roberts University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He worked for forty-three years in the Oil and Gas industry as a computer systems analyst, programmer, and senior systems engineer. After retiring in 2008, Marvin and wife Mary relocated from Houston, Texas to Knoxville, Tennessee. While living in Knoxville, Marvin does extensive research and writing on his first book, which culminates in A Unionist in Each Tennessee: Captain William K. Byrd and the Mysterious Raid of 1861. Captain William K. Byrd was Marvin's great-great-grandfather. This early work was published in May 2011 by The History Press. In addition to his first book, Marvin has written two earlier articles for the Hawkins Country Genealogical and Historical Society in Rogersville. The first is about his family history. The second article details the of Levi Benjamin Byrd, the younger brother of Marvin's great-grandfather and a soldier in the Union army. Today, Marvin and his wife Mary live in the town of Jenks, a suburb community of Tulsa, Oklahoma. They've been blessed with three children and eight grandchildren.
