Autorenporträt
Tammy K. Allen is finishing her master's degree in mental health counseling on her way to becoming a licensed professional counselor. The concept of the 'Thought Giggies' series was inspired by the work of world-renowned psychiatrist, Dr. Aaron T. Beck and the quote by writer Frederick Douglass, "It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men." Dr. Beck is widely considered to be the father of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), which is based on the concept that our thoughts impact our emotions and our behaviors. What we think, we become. Our thoughts stem from our core beliefs, and sometimes those beliefs are not entirely accurate. CBT seeks to help people uncover those faulty beliefs and replace them with healthier, more positive thoughts. There are a number of books that teach these concepts to adults but none for children, until now. Along her journey, she was inspired by both Dr. Beck's work and the Douglass quote to find a way to instill mentally healthy habits in children at an early age in an effort to help parents 'build strong children' so there might be fewer broken men and women in need of repair. Tammy has one grown son who has left the nest and lives in a tiny log cabin in the woods of Plantersville, Texas, with her two rescue dogs, Sophie & Digby. She loves iced coffee, her family & friends, God, and country. And she would love to hear how the 'Thought Giggies' helped your children turn their thoughts around.
