The success of a translation method is determined by the accuracy and the intelligibility of the resulting construction. This study is a comparative analysis of differences among translations of certain Quranic expressions by the scholars Abdullah Yusuf Ali, Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din Al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan, and Marmaduke Pickthall. It concludes that literal translation is the best method for rendering these Quranic expressions, because it maintains both the direct and indirect meanings of the expression whether it is idiomatic or figurative.
