Steven E. Schier has considerable experience producing edited volumes concerning recent presidents. They include a book presenting contrasting perspectives on Obama's time in the White House, Debating the Obama Presidency, a prize-winning edited volume on the Clinton presidency, The Postmodern President: Bill Clinton's Legacy in U.S. Politics, a book on George W; Bush's first term, his two-term presidency and on Obama's first term. He also coedited volumes on the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections, with Janet Box-Steffensmeier of Ohio State University. He is Congdon Professor of Political Science Emeritus at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. Todd E. Eberly is professor of Political Science and Public Policy at St. Mary's College of Maryland. He specializes in contemporary American politics with a focus on the effect of polarization on voters, government, and governing. Professor Eberly's has written four books with Steven Schier of Carleton College. Their first book, American Government and Popular Discontent was published in June, 2013. Polarized: The Rise of Ideology in American Politics, was released by Rowman and Littlefield in 2015. The Trump Presidency: Outsider in the Oval Office also came from Rowman and Littlefield in September 2017. Rowman and Littlefield will publish their book How Trump Happened: A System Shock Decades in the Making in the spring of 2020. He was named one of the most influential voices in Maryland politics by Campaigns and Elections magazine.
