Pierre Leroy-Beaulieu was a French political economist, historian, and author born on 25 September 1871 in France. He was the son of Pierre Paul Leroy-Beaulieu, a prominent economist and academic. Pierre pursued his education at the prestigious École Polytechnique. His career was marked by significant contributions to the understanding of economic and political dynamics, particularly in the context of Eastern Asia. Leroy-Beaulieu's research and writings focused on the changes occurring in Siberia, Japan, and China during a period of growing Western influence in the early 20th century. In addition to his academic pursuits, he served as a deputy in the French National Assembly from 1907 to 1914, where he was involved in political matters and contributed to the development of policy related to global economic trends. Pierre Leroy-Beaulieu's legacy is also carried on by his children, Michel and Paul Leroy-Beaulieu, and his great-grandchildren, including notable individuals like Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu. Leroy-Beaulieu passed away on 17 January 1915 at the age of 43, leaving behind a significant intellectual and political legacy.
