This investigation examines the need for war photography, and the power of the photographic image to influence public opinion. The Vietnam (1964-1973) and Iraq (2002-2007) wars will be the main areas of investigation; both having similar media coverage, yet varied due to technological advances. I have delved into issues of censorship, technological development, the media and editorial control as well as the role of the unbiased documentary photographer as the main topics of discussion. Discussing the notion that war imagery can surpass the basic documentation of historical events, and has the ability to change the outcome of wars.
Autorenporträt
Born in North Wales in 1984, I relocated to Southampton and studied photography at Itchen College. I proceeded to Southampton City College to complete an art and design foundation diploma; attaining a distinction in 2004. I advanced to the University of Portsmouth to study Photography further, graduating with first class honours in 2007.
