Although some educators were using adapted teaching strategies they were not using them effectively in their multilingual classrooms while some educators did not have a well-structured intervention programme at school to deal with learners who were experiencing problems with literacy. To enhance the findings of this research, it would be recommended for further research.

Veena is a junior primary educator at Shakaskraal Primary school in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. She obtained her Masters degree at Durban University of Technology. In 2010 she did a virtual presentation at an international Conference (ICERI) in Madrid, Spain. Presently she is studying her doctorate degree.
