Epilepsy is a common chronic neurological disorder characterized by recurrent unprovoked seizures can occur due to many different cellular or biochemical changes such as alterations in ion channel function,neurotransmitter level (excitatory and inhibitory) , neurotransmitter receptor function, energy metabolism,electrolytes level and oxidative stress. This study investigate that atorvastatin and L-carnitine had antiepileptic effects through their action on cholesterol biosynthesis, free radicals ,electrolytes and glutamate receptors.

Dr. Uday Abdul-Reda Hussein is the Dean¿s Assist. for Scientific Affairs and a lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Thi-Qar, who has received a Ph.D. in pharmacology from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Al-Nahrain, Iraq 2014.
