The aim of the study was to improve the uptake of cervical cancer screening using the Health Belief Model by integrating a health promotion component into the standard programme offered to females at the Phedisong 1 Clinic, Garankuwa, South Africa.Although the coverage for the cervical cancer screening at Phedisong 1 Clinic is still below the national coverage rate of 70%, this study has provided an insight into the situation of cervical cancer screening in women in the feeder area of this clinic in the Garankuwa area. There is a need to create awareness about cervical cancer screening, in order to empower and encourage women to screen for cervical cancer in the health facilities.
