Currently, part of the pollution in water bodies is caused by waste oils from accidents and spillages as well as inadequate domestic and industrial disposal, which makes the water treatment system for public supply more expensive, in addition to the various environmental harms such as the death of aquatic and coastal fauna and flora. At the same time, the use of medium density fibreboard (MDF) has increased by around 18% a year and consequently the amount of waste from its machining. Due to the lack of literature on this subject, it was necessary to develop a methodology to assess the potential of using MDF powder as a bioremediation agent for oil-in-water accidents.
