This work delves into the history of celibacy and how it has been practised over the ages. As a human endeavour in the service of the divine, the practice of celibacy carries along with it both values and challenges. The work examines in detail the values of celibacy to the society in Africa and the work, and at the same time pays considerable attention to the challenges celibates face in the society especially in Africa which a high value is place on childbearing. This work promises to be an interestin piece as at it involves an active participation of the celibates at arriving at its results.
