Roberta Orsi Landini, a scholar of costume and textiles, has worked for 30 years on the textile and costume collections of the Pitti Palace in Florence. She is author of numerous articles, essays and books and has collaborated with a range of public institutions and museums in Italy and abroad. Since the opening of the Costume Gallery in 1983 she has taken part in many projects, curating exhibitions and editing publications on textiles and dress. Among her most important publications Moda a Firenze 1540-1580 Lo stile di Eleonora di Toledo e la sua influenza and Moda a Firenze 1540-1580 Lo stile di Cosimo I de’ Medici are the culmination of meticulous research on archival documents and contemporary images for a complete reconstruction of the wardrobes of the Florentine duchess and duke, offering a detailed and exhaustive overview of Florentine dress at the height of the sixteenth century. She organised and directed for 15 years the cultural and teaching activities of the Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio of Florence, and is currently in charge of teaching activities at the Fondazione Roberto Capucci.
