Arriving in Vienna one summer to begin work on what is likely to be his last symphony, a Hungarian composer and conductor settles into the Hotel Imperial in the very heart of the city. Crafted in a place breathing music, it is clear from the start his composition will have to appeal to the public if it is to have any chance of surviving.
