Autorenporträt
I got my first glimpse into the fascinating world of photography at the age of thirteen when I accidentally stumbled across a copy of the celebrated National Geographic Magazine. Even to this day, I still have pleasant memories of being awestruck by the stunning photography as I flipped through the glossy pages of that popular American magazine so highly treasured for its outstanding iconic images. Although my passion for 'taking pictures' was ignited at a very early age, almost three decades passed before I was able to seriously study this art form. Since that chance encounter with the National Geographic Magazine in the early 1960's, and during the intervening years however, other interests pretty much dominated the course of my life. An abridged summary of my professional experiences includes twenty years in the Foreign Service of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas as a Diplomat. During this time, I also enjoyed a three-year stint as an Alternate Representative of The Bahamas to the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington DC. I retired from The Diplomatic Service at the senior rank of Consul General. My professional past also included several years involvement with both the print and electronic news media as a Journalist and, with regards to the latter, as News Editor & Anchor for both Radio and Television News at the Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas (ZNS Network) Nassau. In the early 1980's I was also a Bahamas-based Correspondent for United Press International (UPI) while I was a Staff Journalist with the Nassau Guardian, a Bahamian daily newspaper. Shortly before retiring from the Diplomatic Service, I began my formal education into the captivating world of photography first by studying with the New York Institute of Photography receiving a Diploma in Professional Photography). I also studied at the renowned Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale (A School of Professional Studies) and was awarded a Diploma in Applied Photography). Originally from the Islands of The Bahamas, I currently reside in Florida commuting between Cutler Bay, Florida, Nassau, Bahamas, and Washington DC. I'm a proud alumnus of The Catholic University of America (Political Science) and the University of Miami (Para-Legal Studies).
