LaDene Morton holds a masters in public administration from the University of Kansas and has studied and practiced community and economic development for more than thirty years in areas all across the United States. She is a former resident of the Waldo area, where she also operated her professional practice for ten years. She is the author of The Brookside Story: Shops of Every Necessary Character and has authored one work of fiction, What Lies West, a historical novel about the American West.
