The scope of this study consists of Russia's domination of Crimea and the conflicts in Donbas. Independent and relatively weak Ukraine's territorial integrity being in a vicious circle was the reason of this intervention to be chosen when considered the relative nature of international conventions and law. The study aims to examine the factors behind Russia's intervention in Ukraine in line with Russia's intervention in Crimea in 2014, the secret support it gave to the Donbass separatists, and the developments that took place before it such as Orange Revolution Maidan events. When the literature is reviewed, we encounter factors such as Russians living abroad, energy security, geopolitical factors, Russian nationalism, historical ties, the importance of the Crimean and Black Sea Fleet, and the Western-Ukrainian rapprochement.
