There are various types of insects that mimic wasps, and among longhorn beetles, the groups of wasp beetles and Necydalis beetles are particularly well-known. This book introduces the Necydalis beetles, which closely resemble the body shape of wasps, in their natural state as they are rarely seen in field guides. The Necydalis genus is notable for its sophisticated mimicry. There are about 50 species worldwide, with approximately 10 species found in Japan. This book highlights five of these species, providing detailed descriptions and photographs of their characteristics and ecology. Additionally, three of these species are also featured in videos, offering a glimpse of their movements and behavior.
