Cara never expected to deal with teenage pregnancy in the suburbs of Philadelphia in 1968. She went to church every Sunday. She was a Girl Scout. But life for girls was different then. Her parents procured an illegal abortion for her and she survived. Her minister told her she was forgiven and never spoke of it again. Her parents never talked about what happened. She tried not to tell anyone else. She spiraled down to the lowest she had ever been, no longer a good girl, hardly alive. Before Roe v. Wade made abortion legal there was one kind of problem for girls and women. After abortion was made legal there was a new set of problems. Why couldn't pregnancy just be a happy event? Cara struggled through her young adulthood to find the answers that worked for her and for her friends. If God forgave her, and her minister said He did, could she forgive herself? Struggling to find the answers to life's questions Cara finds her way of choosing.
