Somesh Shekhar was born in a small village in rural Eastern Uttar Pradesh, a State in Northern India. He spent the majority of his life in that rustic village, witnessing the daily struggle of living in poverty, caste discrimination, Zamindari system, and regressive society as it existed fifty to sixty years ago. All of the author's books focus on life, relationships, and challenges as faced by society in that era. He has traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States writing books on his experiences through the lens of someone who comes from an underprivileged background. Somesh was a Banker by profession. After retirement, he dedicated his time to writing and also helping the needy. He is a frequent contributor of articles and stories in Hindi publications. Having won various awards, he is frequently invited to share his views at conferences.
