Mazi lives in regional Victoria. She grew up in the little gold town of Gulgong then moved to Deniliquin when she was 12. There she met her husband of 56 years. Mazi started her career as a librarian and then at age 35, studied for a degree in social welfare. She worked in aged care for 30 as well as teaching social welfare at TAFE for 15 years. Mazi has 4 grandchildren and 2 daughters. She has a Maltese Shih Tzu dog Albert And two Birman cats William Morris and St Francis of Assisi.
