Needless to say many books have been written with Brooklyn as the setting. The WOLVES OF BROOKLYN, however, focuses on two major aspects of tenement-life just before and during the World War II era. The first focal point is the borough of Brooklyn itself and details of its environs; and the second focus is on the minds, hearts and souls of the Italian-American immigrant families who struggled there against much ethnic and racial prejudice to build a successful future for themselves in a difficult inner city neighborhood surrounding the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Although the names of characters and some places have been changed The WOLVES OF BROOKLYN is very much autobiographical as are most first novels. Which means that many of the people portrayed in the stories were constructed from the characteristics of real personalities know to the author. And, many of the events portrayed were also authenticate occurrences. And yet an attempt was made to incorporate a tint of suspense and mystery throughout. Also, a modest mingling of true major historical events are added for the accentuation of the realities of the times. Therefore The WOLVES OF BROOKLYN is the story of the borough and its proud inhabitants.
