This research has been carried out because of the importance of generating studies that support and recognize the presence of women in science and research in Mexico and the world. Thus, this book will provide current information on the situation faced by women in the areas of science and research. It is important to study and investigate which are the main factors that impede the participation of women in research regarding the SNI (National System of Researchers), distinguishing the main limitations and difficulties faced by women researchers when dealing the SNI. Within this quantitative study of 184 researchers in the country, we sought to discover the reason of the low participation and scientific production of women and whether these conditions are linked to gender factors (stereotypes, discrimination, etc.) It is necessary to be aware of the scarce participation by women in research in various areas of knowledge, suggesting proposals that encourage the participation of women in research.
