The Eastern Himalayan region of India is unique in many respects with varying types of forest ecosystems and is a rich store house of Biodiversity. The state of Meghalaya in particular is endowed with rich natural vegetation which ranges from tropical to sub-tropical type of vegetation or evergreen to mixed deciduous types of forests. This book highlights the nature of diversity of the wood rotting fungi that is yet not fully understood in the Northeast India with special reference to the state of Meghalaya. The book looks into the taxonomical study of the wood rotting fungi and mainly deals with a taxonomical treatment of the identified species based on morphological features and structures. The work was the first of its nature in the region at the time of starting the study. It is hoped that the book would be a starter for further studies and exploration for future researchers and avid lovers of these group of fungi in the region.
