NOAH BROOKS (1830-1903) was an American journalist who began his career in his native Illinois where he was first acquainted with Abraham Lincoln. He continued his career in California and then Washington, D.C. when he became Lincoln's friend and confidant. His personal observations and insights have been instrumental in understanding Lincoln's life and presidency.
