Autorenporträt
Mindy Atwood is the author of The Zipper Club and Do Bears Have Belly Buttons? After both her son and nephew were diagnosed with kidney cancer, she saw a need for better support for their families. She created the nonprofit organization Patches of Light to work with and uplift families where a child is experiencing a catastrophic health or injury diagnosis. Mindy has witnessed the fear that cancer brings with it, and was inspired to write this book so that every child can understand how to support friends or family who are going through this difficult experience. When she isn't writing or hard at work, Mindy enjoys reading and sewing. She also loves to spend time with her family, including her four grown sons and six grandchildren. She lives in Hilliard, Ohio, with her husband Rodney and their granddaughter, Alexis. They have a beloved dog, Finnegan, and a hilariously funny guinea pig, Craig.
