No matter the lengths the adults in her life go to try and protect her, growing up a Lieberman in the post-industrial-aged city of Rüßburg, meant that Ruth would never have a normal life. The fiery sixteen-year-old, Ruth was the daughter of the leader of the Scarlet gang; the most feared in the entire country of Drüschadt. She enjoys the life of a gangster and all the benefits that accompany it. Fancy dinners and parties, free accommodations wherever she pleases, and, of course, easy access to illegal booze at any speakeasy she chooses to go to. This changes when her elder brother, Henry Lieberman, and his best friend, Thomas Junger, are pulled overseas and into the Drüschadter, Nadorettee war. Times become desperate for the Scarlets and their rival gang, the Bladers, when the king of Drüschadt decides that a new police commissioner will clean up the streets of her home city. Unlikely alliances and a "secret" romance leave Ruth's head spinning. She wonders if she will ever prove herself to her father and brother... or if the Scarlet gang, along with her entire livelihood, will all come crashing down around her and cease to exist.
