The need for renewable energies, particularly the wind energy, has got much importance with regard to increase in demand and environmental issues. Actually, the changes in the structure of wind farm generators are occurring rapidly, hence the conventional generators are being replaced by newer ones. This study investigates the analytical and experimental performance of a series connected induction generator (SCIG) and compares it with an ordinary induction generator (IG) in wind turbines. The results show that the SCIG can be proposed as a suitable candidate for wind power generation.
