The majority of passive houses are built in cold zones. Since Iraq is located in a hot arid region, hence the originality of this work is that it is a novel try to apply passive house criteria in such hot climate. In the present work, a theoretical and experimental study is done to evaluate the performance of a passive house in Iraq. The objective of the theoretical work is to determine the range of design parameters needed to satisfy passive house criteria. Obviously, this requires studying the construction materials and technologies, to make sure that the building will have a good performance. In this way, advanced simulation program (Package) is created for such hot arid zone. The objective of the experimental work is to evaluate the feasibility of practical model built according to passive house criteria. The obtained data, experiences and solutions are presented in order to demonstrate the best conclusions for the design of an Iraqi passive house.
