Edward Bond's plays have over the decades arrested the drama-loving people for his intrigue, projection of violence and depth of theoretical acumen. This book seeks to capture the transition in Bond's plays, from epic theatre to 'rational theatre'. These phases have not been explored before. In this book, attempts have been made to categorise the British dramatist's works into three distinct parts - the first one being the plays belonging to 'epic theatre' mode, the second one into transitional stage and the third one in the category of 'rational theatre'. Both theoretically and performance-wise, the selected eight plays have been analysed and put forward as a sample of post-modernist theoretical account. The theatre-goers, the young dramatists and the students of drama would be relishing the prospect of reading Edward Bond from a different perspective, alien from the conventional bashing style.
