The author and illustrator, Charles Holt, lives with his dog Shelby in Cornville, Arizona. As a police officer and detective for nearly three decades with the Miami-Dade Police Department, Florida, Holt always found time to draw and sketch. Trained as a police forensic artist, he was involved in many interesting cases. His passion for cartooning and comic strips led him to work for 20 years as an editorial cartoonist for the Erwin Record, a weekly newspaper in East Tennessee. Working for the paper has allowed him to illustrate two books, including Legends, lies, and other tales, by author O. Ray Knapp. Holt also taught forensic art and cartooning at Yavapai Community College. He is presently teaching an after-school cartooning class at a local Cottonwood, Arizona, elementary school.
