In the last twenty years, Metal Matrix Nano Composites (MMNC) has encountered a massive development. The term "Metal Matrix Nano-Composites (MMNCs)" broadly refers to a composite system that is based on metal or alloy substrate, combined with metallic or non-metallic nano-scale reinforcements. This project reviews the opportunities of using such a MMNC developed in automotive brake drum. Particulate-reinforced nanocomposites of AA336 - Al2O3 have been developed and tested for their capability to withstand high temperature and pressure conditions during braking action.
