Modern civilization depends upon the availability of energy for sustaining all activities and further developments. The continuously increasing energy requirement necessitates the setting up of new power plants and enhancing the performance of existing power generation options. Today, if power is to be generated using fuel energy then gas turbines are the best among all the options available for power generation. In the present work, the thermodynamic analysis of combined cycle using ammonia water mixture for air cooling and gas turbine blade cooling by ammonia-water mixture/steam has been carried out. After studying various combined cycle configurations based on simple gas turbine, reheat gas turbine, intercooled gas turbine and intercooled reheat gas turbine the mathematical model for thermodynamic analysis of constituent components has been developed. The present work can be utilized for gaining information on the effect of binary mixture over the various thermodynamic performance parameters of combined cycles being considered in present work.
