An industrial fix provides a temporary respite from global warming. It controls temperature without tackling emissions and diverts attention from climate change. The climate change problems fester. In 1941, when They All Come Tumbling Down begins, the fix is unravelling. Tony Atherton and Beth Manville, the protagonists in The Souring Seas, join forces with Dan Delacour, Elena Llewellyn, and the Matthews clan from Building Houses of Cards in a vain attempt to right the sinking ship.
