Autorenporträt
Sharon Janis is an author, filmmaker, devotional singer, and philosopher who was brought up by psychology teachers before studying neuroscience and film at the University of Michigan. There, she coordinated experiments on remote viewing and discovered the ashram of the spiritual teacher from India who would become her guru. Blown away by the vast wisdom and powerful practices available there, Janis moved into Muktananda's ashram for two months, then stayed for nearly a decade, creating hundreds of videos for the international foundation before moving to Hollywood for an award-winning television career. While associate producing and editing television shows, including X-Men and the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, illness came and slowed everything down. Long hours of spiritual and metaphysical contemplations while healing led to a peaceful seaside life of reclusive creative service, writing books, including Spirituality For Dummies, Secrets of Spiritual Happiness, and A Modern Quest for Eternal Truth, recording devotional songs and texts from various traditions, including the "Diamond Sutra" and "Bhagavad Gita," both sung in English for the first time, and creating service-based videos and films, including "Peace Pilgrim: An American Sage Who Walked Her Talk." Janis, who also goes by her guru-given Sanskrit name, "Kumuda," is now offering Things that Make You Go Oooommmmm, a collection of notes she kept as fruits of her contemplations through the years. These notes to herself can also provide fertile philosophical nourishment for others who are seeking to find deeper meanings and a more expanded relationship with life.
